Have you ever had a gut feeling so strong it felt like a physical force? Or experienced a moment of profound clarity, a "knowing" that seemed to come from nowhere? In a world that prioritizes logic and rationality, we often dismiss these moments as coincidences or imagination. But what if they are the key to unlocking your most authentic life, a life filled with purpose, clarity, and profound personal growth?
Welcome to a journey beyond the five senses. In this deep dive, we explore the world of psychic abilities and spiritual development with Brandy Van, a renowned psychic medium and mentor. This conversation, derived from the Luxury Unplugged podcast with host Neeti Keswani, author of "Live Your Dreams," demystifies the spiritual journey and provides a practical roadmap for anyone feeling stuck, seeking purpose, or yearning to connect with their inner wisdom.
From Fear to Faith: The Genesis of a Spiritual Journey
Brandy Van’s path to becoming a psychic medium began not with fanfare, but with quiet trepidation. From a young age, she saw and heard things others didn't, leading her to conceal her experiences for fear of being labeled "crazy." This is a common starting point for many on a spiritual journey—a feeling of being different, coupled with societal pressure to conform.
The turning point came in her 20s with a powerful spiritual experience at her grandmother's deathbed. "As she took her last breath," Brandy recounts, "I felt her spirit rise above the bed. I saw magnificent colors forming a star, beating like a heartbeat. I just knew she was at peace." This moment shattered her previous beliefs about the finality of death and ignited a quest to understand and develop her psychic abilities. It was the catalyst for her spiritual awakening, transforming uncertainty into a profound sense of purpose and connection to the unseen world.
What is a Psychic Medium Mentor? Bridging the Gap
In a society where discussing psychic abilities is often considered taboo or "woo-woo," Brandy’s mission is to help people "come out of their spirituality closet." She emphasizes that many people have these experiences but lack a safe space or guide to understand them.
So, what does a psychic medium mentor actually do?
Brandy explains that while she consumed countless books and courses, her own psychic development skyrocketed only when she found a mentor. This personalized guidance was the missing piece. She structures this support into a 90-day program designed to provide the complete "puzzle" of spiritual development, rather than disjointed pieces.
This mentorship is crucial for anyone feeling stuck in their career or life path. It’s not about predicting the future, but about translating the language of your own intuition. By developing your psychic abilities, you gain a reliable internal compass, guiding you toward decisions that align with your soul's purpose and facilitating immense personal growth.
The Tangible Benefits of Spiritual Development: More Than Just "Vibes"
Embarking on a path of spiritual development is often misunderstood as an escape from reality. In truth, it’s the opposite—it’s about engaging with life more fully and positively. Brandy describes it as "a beautiful way of living."
When you actively work on your spiritual growth, you experience a fundamental shift in perception. Your vibration rises, making you more positive and resilient. You begin to operate from a place of service and connection with others. Perhaps the most powerful shift is in how you handle challenges.
"Instead of looking at a negative event as 'Why is this happening to me?' you learn to ask, 'What is this trying to teach me? What am I going to learn from this?'" Brandy explains.
This reframing is at the heart of personal growth. It transforms you from a victim of circumstance into an active student of life, turning obstacles into opportunities for spiritual growth and self-discovery. This enhanced intuition becomes a tool for navigating life's complexities with grace and wisdom.
The 90-Day Pathway: Handholding on Your Spiritual Journey
A common question for those seeking spiritual development is: "What does the process actually look like?" Brandy’s 90-day program is built on structured support and personal discovery.
Students have continuous access to her, with bi-weekly group Q&A calls that foster a sense of community—finding your "tribe," as Neeti Keswani puts it. A significant part of this spiritual journey involves "shadow work"—confronting and healing deep-seated fears, self-doubt, and patterns of self-sabotage.
"This personal growth work is essential," Brandy notes. "The more you heal, the better you know yourself, and you can release all that holds you back moving forward." This process of clearing internal blockages is what allows your authentic self—and your psychic abilities—to shine through. It’s a dedicated space for personal transformation, ensuring your spiritual journey is both profound and sustainable.
The Four-Step Process to Develop Your Intuition
For those wondering how to start, Brandy offers a clear, practical four-step framework to develop intuition. This is the core of beginning your psychic development.
-
Ask a Question. The dialogue with your intuition starts with a query. Begin with small, low-stakes questions like, "Should I go for a walk or eat breakfast first?" Avoid major life decisions initially.
-
Feel the Answer. This is the crucial step. Within the first four seconds of asking, pay attention to a sensation in your body—a gut feeling, a chill, a tingling, or a sense of "knowing." After this brief window, the rational mind takes over, and the intuitive signal is lost.
-
Trust It. This is often the hardest part. Your intuition is your inner GPS, always guiding you toward your highest good. Learning to trust this feeling, even when it contradicts logic, is a milestone in spiritual growth.
-
Act On It. If you don’t follow the guidance, the connection weakens. Action reinforces the pathway and proves its value, creating a positive feedback loop for your spiritual development.
Connecting to Your Higher Self and the Art of Manifestation
Neeti Keswani, whose book "Live Your Dreams" also explores listening to one's inner voice, asked about connecting with one's "higher self." Brandy describes this not as a distant entity, but as a feeling—"the feeling of complete gratitude for your life."
Living through your higher self means operating from a state of abundance and thankfulness. This high-vibrational state is the engine of manifestation. When you emit gratitude and love, you attract more of the same, aligning with universal principles like the Law of Attraction.
When questioned about manifesting specific goals with deadlines, Brandy introduces the concept of "Divine timing." A spiritual journey requires trust and faith that things will unfold as they are meant to. While your intuition will guide you toward your goals, the path may not adhere to a rigid, ego-driven schedule. This surrender is an advanced form of spiritual growth, balancing intention with trust.
Grounding, Protection, and the Role of Dreams
As you deepen your psychic development, managing your energy becomes critical. Brandy stresses the importance of grounding and protection.
-
Grounding: Practices like meditation or visualization help anchor your physical body, especially after spiritual work, preventing feelings of depletion or dizziness.
-
Protection: Visualizing a bubble of white light around yourself shields your energy from external negativity, which is particularly important for empaths who easily absorb the emotions of others.
Regarding dreams, Brandy confirms they are a powerful tool for spiritual growth. Learning to interpret your dreams can provide guidance and highlight areas for personal growth in your waking life, making them a valuable component of your overall spiritual journey.
A Medium's Gift: Healing Grief and the Science of Spirit
A key distinction Brandy makes is between a psychic and a medium. While all humans have psychic abilities (intuition), not all psychics are mediums. A psychic medium has the specific gift of communicating with deceased loved ones.
"For people who are grieving, it's a very healing, comforting process," she says. "I create a new memory for them with their loved one." She explains that we are all energy, and when a person dies, they shed their physical body but their energy remains. This communication offers profound closure and comfort, affirming that death is not a final goodbye.
Remarkably, Brandy shares that she doesn't carry the emotional weight of these readings. "I turn my consciousness off so the consciousness of the deceased loved one can come in... I usually don't remember the reading at all after a few days." This allows her to serve as a pure channel without being drained, a fascinating aspect of her work as a psychic medium.
Your First Step on the Path of Spiritual Growth
For anyone skeptical or unsure if they've ever had a psychic experience, Brandy offers a simple starting point. Often, we dismiss common phenomena like déjà vu, strong gut feelings, or vivid dreams. These are all facets of our innate psychic abilities.
She encourages beginners to educate themselves on what these experiences look like. To facilitate this, she offers a free PDF on her website that details various psychic experiences, helping you identify and validate the moments of intuition you may have been ignoring.
Conclusion: Your Intuition Awaits
The journey of spiritual development and psychic development is ultimately a journey home to yourself. It’s about quieting the noise of the external world and the critical ego to hear the wise, steady voice within. As both Brandy Van and Neeti Keswani illustrate, this path is the cornerstone of authentic personal growth.
It transforms your reality, enhances your decision-making, and infuses your life with a sense of purpose and peace. By embracing your intuition, you aren't just unlocking psychic abilities; you are unlocking your potential for a more guided, fulfilling, and extraordinary life. Your spiritual journey toward profound personal growth and a deeper connection with your intuition begins with a single question, a moment of quiet listening, and the courage to take the first step.

(BRANDY VAN'S JOURNEY)
Brandy Van:
"Yes, thanks so much, Neeti. As you said, I'm in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I actually grew up in Pittsburgh but have lived here for about 20 years. Basically, how I got on my journey of spirituality was that from a very young age, I knew I was seeing and hearing things that other people weren't. I tended to keep it to myself because I was afraid people might think I was crazy.
Then, when I was in my 20s, I had a very profound spiritual experience. My grandma was taking her last breath in her hospice room, with my family and I around her holding hands. As she took her last breath, I literally felt her spirit rise above the bed. When I looked up, I saw the most magnificent colors forming a star, beating in and out like a heartbeat. I just knew in that moment that she was at peace and transitioning. I knew that death wasn't final. Everything changed for me then; I wasn't very religious and had no strong beliefs about the afterlife, but that moment got me on my path to developing my spirituality and psychic gifts."
(THE ROLE OF A PSYCHIC MEDIUM MENTOR)
Neeti Keswani:
"When you talk about being a psychic medium mentor, how do you explain that? What do you really help people with? Could you elaborate?"
Brandy Van:
"Yeah, unfortunately, in our society, it's still so taboo, and a lot of people don't talk about it. I want everyone to come out of their spirituality closet because many people have these experiences and are looking for like-minded individuals. The more we talk about it, the more we find our tribe.
The way I help is through a 90-day program. I was reading tons of books and watching TV shows, but nothing developed my ability until I found a mentor. I only worked with her for about six hours over six months, and my abilities skyrocketed. I looked back and wondered, why was it so hard to find a mentor? There are coaches for everything else! So, I want to help people with a step-by-step process—the exact one that made me a successful medium. I can help someone who is stuck, wondering where to start, or who has read books but isn't seeing results."
Neeti Keswani:
"So, you mean to say that if somebody is feeling stuck in their career or they're feeling that they don't understand the path ahead, you are able to translate that for them in some way?"
Brandy Van:
"Exactly. I took a lot of little classes that were like puzzle pieces, but I wasn't getting the whole picture. I've put it all together so someone doesn't need to take all those classes. It's an extensive program where they get lifetime access to the content. It doesn't mean they'll be magically psychic in 90 days, but they will have all the information and exercises they need to continue developing. It consolidates everything."
(OVERCOMING TABOOS & THE BENEFITS OF SPIRITUALITY)
Neeti Keswani:
"You mentioned that having psychic abilities is still a taboo topic globally; it's considered a little 'woo-woo.' What did it take for you to come out? What was your journey like, and what challenges did you face? Do you have students ready to learn this from you?"
Brandy Van:
"A lot of my clients and students are where I was—they think they have something but aren't sure if they can develop it. By the end of the 90 days, their transformation is amazing. Once you add spirituality to your life, it's a beautiful way of living. People often fear it because they don't understand it; there are many misconceptions.
But it makes you more positive, raises your vibration, and gives you a need to help others. It changes your perspective. When something negative happens, instead of asking, 'Why is this happening to me?' you ask, 'What is this trying to teach me? What will I learn from this? How will this make me stronger?' It's a change in reality. We learn how we're all connected, how we can help each other, and how we're connected to the universe. It's a beautiful way to live, and if more of us talk about it without fear, we can raise the planet's consciousness."
(THE 90-DAY PROGRAM & PERSONAL GROWTH)
Neeti Keswani:
"That's very well said. Spirituality is where we find ourselves. The mediums can be many—meditation, bits of Ho'oponopono, Law of Attraction—but it all concerns making you a better version of yourself. When you talk about the 90-day program, is it a handholding thing? Are you available for your students daily?"
Brandy Van:
"Yes, they have access to me all the time. They can email or message me. We have bi-weekly Q&A calls with other students in the program. I'm their number one cheerleader; I don't want them to be stuck. I encourage them and let them celebrate their wins. A lot of it involves shadow work—overcoming fears, self-doubt, forgiving themselves, and addressing self-betrayal or self-sabotage. The more you heal, the better you know yourself, and you can release all that moving forward. It's about personal discovery and growth, getting you to live your most authentic life."
(RELEASING EGO & DEVELOPING INTUITION)
Neeti Keswani:
"You also talk on your website about releasing one's ego to receive messages from the spirit. How do you go about that?"
Brandy Van:
"This is the hardest thing, for me and my clients. Your ego, your rational mind, has been in the driver's seat your entire life. Now you're bringing in your intuition, and your mind has a problem with that. It wants you to stay in your comfort zone, safe and protected. It doubts you, saying, 'There's no science; you're making this up.' I always say that the louder your inner critic gets, the closer you are to your goal. If your inner critic is yelling, take it as a compliment and push forward."
Neeti Keswani:
"So, how do I go from releasing my ego to channeling my inner soul? How do I do that?"
Brandy Van:
"Developing your intuition is a four-step process:
-
Ask a question: Start with small questions, not life-changing ones. For example, 'Should I eat breakfast or go for a walk first?'
-
Feel the answer: Feel it in your body—a gut feeling, a tingling, a chill, a ringing in the ear. You only have about 4 seconds; after that, your rational mind starts analyzing.
-
Trust it: Your intuition always leads you to your right path. It's your inner self, your soul, or spirit guides communicating.
-
Act on it: If you don't act, you won't be led to that higher path. Why ask if you won't follow through?
It's a process you need to practice daily. You also learn to differentiate between intuition and anxiety. Get used to the feeling of your intuition giving you an answer."
Neeti Keswani:
"Let's say I get a feeling to go for a walk first, but I don't follow it. What happens? Do I stop hearing from my soul?"
Brandy Van:
"It's always there; you can always ask again. Maybe it was telling you to walk for a reason you don't know yet—like having more energy later. You might never know the reason, but its purpose is to get your life flowing easier. When you don't listen and think, 'I knew I shouldn't have done that,' we're trying to avoid that regret. We're trying to get you to live authentically the way your spirit wants you to live."
(CONNECTING TO HIGHER SELF & MANIFESTATION)
Neeti Keswani:
"In my book, 'Live Your Dreams,' I talk about listening to your inner child and soul. If I want to channel my higher purpose or higher self to speak to me, can I do that, and quickly?"
Brandy Van:
"Yes, absolutely. Your higher self is a feeling—a feeling of complete gratitude for your life. It's when you can look past challenges and see your cup overflowing. When you feel and live through gratitude, that's living through your higher self. More doors open for opportunities, and you feel inner peace. With the Law of Attraction, if you give out gratitude and love, you receive more. Living with that higher vibration brings more of it to you."
Neeti Keswani:
"You also talk about manifesting goals through intuition. Suppose I have a deadline. Can I expect my intuition to guide me to meet it?"
Brandy Van:
"The way I see it, there is no deadline; it's all in Divine timing. Spirit and intuition will tell you when it's supposed to be done. It's hard to put a deadline on a spiritual path; it could be a lifetime journey. It's about continuous trust and faith."
Neeti Keswani:
"But for practical goals, like sending my child to a particular school by a certain timeline, it can't be indefinite, right?"
Brandy Van:
"It's about the trust and faith you have. If your intuition says to send your child to that school, but your rational mind sees the struggles, you have to have faith. Maybe once you take that path, things become easier. It's the risk and challenge versus having trust."
(DREAMS, GROUNDING, & ENERGY PROTECTION)
Neeti Keswani:
"Do practices like meditation, grounding, protecting one's energies, or even lucid dreaming help in manifesting goals faster?"
Brandy Van:
"Dreams are a whole other topic! Interpreting dreams can show you goals for your waking life; it's about seeing how they guide you to be a better person. Grounding is crucial, especially if you're communicating with spirit. Your energy can feel outside your body, making you feel depleted or dizzy. Grounding your physical body prevents that.
Protecting your energy is vital because you don't know what energy could enter your field. You must do everything in a safe, structured way to keep your vibe positive. Meditation is the first step, but it's really about visualizations to work out your psychic muscle—your imagination. Even though we say 'visualization,' it could mean seeing, feeling, sensing, knowing, or hearing. You need to figure out which sense is best for you, as that's the easiest way for Spirit to communicate."
(DIFFERENTIATING ENERGY & THE WORK OF A MEDIUM)
Neeti Keswani:
"Let's say I'm intuitively guided, but something negative comes in. Is that because I didn't protect my energies, or is it my own negative thought process? How do I differentiate?"
Brandy Van:
"It could be both. Once you develop a strong mind-body connection, you'll interpret whether it's you or someone else. Empaths, for example, can feel everyone's energy and often don't know which emotions are theirs. The best thing is to protect your energy by putting yourself in a bubble of white light so negative energies can't come in. Whether it's your energy or outside, once you're home in your sacred space, restore your energy—hydrate, take a nap—to release the negativity and get back on your positive path."
Neeti Keswani:
"So, it's a process you do before entering a space and after returning?"
Brandy Van:
"Exactly."
Neeti Keswani:
"On another note, you help people grieving their deceased loved ones. How do you do that?"
Brandy Van:
"All psychics have extrasensory perception—a sixth sense or intuition. So, we all have psychic abilities. But not all psychics are mediums. A medium can specifically talk to deceased loved ones; it's a given gift you can't really teach. My psychic specialty is communicating with the dead.
I give messages from deceased loved ones, which is a very healing and comforting process for those grieving. It creates a new memory with that person. It can be very rewarding for me and emotional for the recipient. It often takes weeks to process, but it provides closure and the comfort of knowing their loved one is still with them, just in a different, non-physical form. Since we are all energy, when they leave the physical body, their energy remains."
Neeti Keswani:
"As a psychic, is it hard on you to come in and out of that energy?"
Brandy Van:
"Not really, because I turn my consciousness off so the consciousness of the deceased loved one can come through. For instance, I did a reading last night and sort of remember it now, but by tomorrow, I'll have completely forgotten. I tell people that if they ask me about a reading two weeks later, I won't remember because it wasn't me speaking; it was their loved ones using me as a channel. I don't remember the readings after a few days."
Neeti Keswani:
"That's a boon for you; otherwise, it could be overwhelming."
Brandy Van:
"Yes, exactly."
(FINAL TIPS & CONCLUSION)
Neeti Keswani:
"Do you have any final tips for self-improvement, guiding ourselves intuitively towards our goals and passions?"
Brandy Van:
"Yes. The first step is knowing what psychic experiences are. If you don't know, you might be skeptical and not recognize them. For your audience, if they go to my website, BrandyVan.com, I have a free PDF they can sign up for that lists many psychic experiences. For example, if they've ever had Deja Vu—these little things you think are everyday experiences are often psychic. If you think you've never had a psychic experience, you probably don't know what to look for. That's a great place to start."
Neeti Keswani:
"Very interesting, Brandy. Loads of information and nuggets to carry on. I believe spirituality has nuggets for all of us to follow our path, our dreams, and reach our goals. Thank you so much for your time today and for helping us understand how to guide ourselves intuitively. Thank you."
Brandy Van:
"Absolutely. Thank you so much for having me, Neeti."
Neeti Keswani:
"Thank you."
