Ayurveda, EFT, and 90lbs Lost: The Holistic Blueprint for Lasting Weight Loss and Midlife Success

Introduction: A Transformation Beyond the Scale

What if everything you thought you knew about weight loss was missing the most important piece? What if the secret to profound, lasting change wasn't found in a calorie-counting app or a grueling gym routine, but in the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda and the modern emotional science of EFT?

This is not a hypothetical question. It is the lived reality of Tina Coleman, whose incredible journey of losing 90 pounds redefines what true success in health and wellness looks like. Her story, shared on the Luxury Unplugged podcast with host Neeti Keswani, is a masterclass in holistic transformation. It proves that sustainable weight loss is a natural byproduct of inner alignment, emotional healing, and spiritual motivation. This isn't just another weight loss story; it's a roadmap for anyone who feels that their body, their life, or their spirit is out of sync.

Tina Coleman's Weight Loss Journey - Lost 90 Pounds Without Surgery using EFT

Tina’s path to success was paved not by restriction, but by revelation. As she approached 50, her motivation shifted from simply wanting to be thinner to a deep, compelling desire to step into her next chapter with vitality, grace, and power. Her success serves as a powerful testament to the idea that when we heal from the inside out, the body has no choice but to follow. This blog will delve into the powerful combination of Ayurveda and EFT, which became the cornerstone of her weight loss and lifelong success.

Part 1: The Foundational Motivation – More Than a Number

For many, the motivation for weight loss is external: a number on a scale, a dress size, an upcoming event. For Tina, the initial motivation was both practical and profound. The extra weight was impacting her physical well-being—her joints, her energy levels, her skin's elasticity. But the deeper, more powerful motivation was an existential one. She recognized that to truly embrace midlife, she needed to release the physical and emotional weight that was holding her back.

This shift in motivation is critical. It moves the journey from a short-term diet to a long-term mission of self-reclamation. Tina’s success underscores a vital lesson: when your motivation is rooted in self-love and a vision for your future, you tap into a resilience that superficial goals can never provide. This foundational shift in motivation was the first step toward her unparalleled success.

Part 2: Ayurveda – The Ancient Science of Constitutional Weight Loss

Tina’s journey into holistic health began with Ayurveda, the 5,000-year-old "science of life" from India. For anyone struggling with weight lossAyurveda offers a revolutionary perspective: there is no one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, Ayurveda teaches us to understand our unique mind-body constitution, or dosha.

Tina’s moment of clarity came when she read about the Kapha dosha. "I literally opened up a book, read about Kapha, and I was like, 'Oh my goodness, that could be my picture,'" she recalls. This was a pivotal moment in her weight loss journey. Ayurveda identifies Kapha as the energy of structure and lubrication, composed of earth and water. When in balance, Kapha is stable, strong, and nurturing. When out of balance, it leads to weight gain, fluid retention, and lethargy.

Ayurveda provided Tina with a personalized blueprint for her weight loss. Instead of fighting her body’s nature, she learned to work with it. An Ayurvedic approach to weight loss for a Kapha constitution involves:

  • Diet: Favoring light, warm, and dry foods over heavy, cold, and oily ones. Incorporating pungent, bitter, and astringent tastes helps to stimulate digestion and melt away excess Kapha.

  • Lifestyle: Embracing regular, vigorous exercise and seeking out new experiences to counter Kapha’s inherent tendency toward stability and inertia.

  • Routine: Establishing a daily routine (dinacharya) that includes waking up early, dry brushing (garshana), and self-massage (abhyanga) with light oils to stimulate the lymphatic system.

This Ayurvedic framework was the structural foundation of Tina’s weight loss. It moved her away from the cycle of deprivation and binge-eating and towards a harmonious, sustainable way of living. The success she found with Ayurveda was not just in shedding pounds, but in understanding her body’s unique language for the first time. This deep, constitutional understanding is what makes Ayurveda such a powerful tool for weight loss.

Part 3: EFT Tapping – The Emotional Key to Unlocking Stored Weight

If Ayurveda provided the "what" and "how" for Tina’s physical transformation, EFT provided the "why." EFT, or Emotional Freedom Techniques, often called "tapping," is a powerful mind-body practice that involves tapping with the fingertips on specific acupressure points while voicing affirming statements.

Tina was initially skeptical about EFT. "I was introduced to it years ago and I'm like, 'Ah, this isn't going to work,'" she admits. However, her commitment to her weight loss and personal growth led her to take several courses, and the results were transformative for her weight loss journey.

So, how does EFT directly contribute to weight loss?

  1. Lowering Cortisol: Chronic stress elevates cortisol, a hormone that directly promotes abdominal fat storage and triggers cravings for sugary, fatty foods. EFT is clinically proven to calm the amygdala (the brain's fear center) and reduce cortisol levels. By using EFT to manage stress, Tina’s body was no longer in a constant state of fat-storage emergency. This reduction in cortisol was a major factor in her weight loss success.

  2. Releasing Emotional Baggage: As Tina wisely noted, "Our bodies are cells. They absorb everything. All of our thoughts, emotions, experiences, they get trapped in our cells." Many people eat not out of hunger, but out of habit, boredom, sadness, or anxiety. EFT allows you to directly target and release these underlying emotional drivers. By tapping on past hurts, current stresses, and future fears, EFT helps to dismantle the emotional charge that leads to unconscious eating.

  3. Reprogramming Limiting Beliefs: A core part of EFT involves voicing positive affirmations of self-acceptance and worth. For someone who has struggled with body image, statements like, "Even though I feel this shame about my body, I deeply and completely love and accept myself," can be profoundly healing. This practice was integral to Tina’s shift in motivation from self-criticism to self-love, which fueled her lasting success.

Tina’s daily practice of EFT became a non-negotiable part of her routine, a tool she even used to calm her nerves before our interview. This consistent application of EFT provided the emotional and neurological reprogramming necessary to support the physical changes she was making with Ayurveda. The success of her weight loss was directly tied to her commitment to this emotional work with EFT.

Part 4: The Synergy of Ayurveda and EFT – A Blueprint for Success

The true magic of Tina’s transformation lies in the powerful synergy between Ayurveda and EFT. They are not separate tools; they are two sides of the same coin, addressing the physical and emotional roots of imbalance simultaneously.

Ayurveda might identify that a Kapha imbalance is causing slow digestion and water retention, leading to weight loss resistance. It prescribes a specific diet and lifestyle to stoke the digestive fire (agni). Meanwhile, EFT can be used to tap on the emotional reasons for a sluggish metabolism—perhaps feelings of being "stuck" in life, grief, or a need for emotional protection that manifests as physical padding.

For example, an Ayurvedic protocol would advise against eating when stressed because it extinguishes the digestive fire. EFT gives you a practical, 5-minute tool to actually process that stress before you eat, thereby honoring the Ayurvedic principle. This is the holistic feedback loop that leads to profound success:

  • Ayurveda provides the map for the physical body.

  • EFT provides the key to unlock the emotional blockages.

  • Together, they create a clear pathway for weight loss and vibrant health.

This integrated approach was the cornerstone of Tina’s success. Her motivation was fueled by seeing results not just on the scale, but in her peace of mind and emotional resilience. This is the ultimate definition of success in holistic weight loss.

Part 5: Beyond Weight Loss – Reinvention, Menopause, and Sensual Success

Tina’s success with Ayurveda and EFT for weight loss was merely the catalyst for a total life reinvention. The confidence and vitality she gained overflowed into every area of her existence. She authored the book "50, Fabulous, and Fcking Fantastic,"* a manifesto for women in midlife, and made the bold decision to move to Mexico, embracing a life of adventure and freedom.

She also reframes the conversation around menopause, calling it "adult puberty." Using the principles of Ayurveda, she manages hormonal fluctuations with diet and lifestyle, and uses EFT to navigate the anxiety, sleep issues, and emotional volatility that can accompany this transition. This proactive, empowered approach is a testament to her ongoing success.

Furthermore, Tina speaks passionately about reclaiming sensuality—not for someone else, but for oneself. This, too, is a form of success. It’s about owning your power and feeling at home in your body, a feeling that was made possible by the self-love cultivated through her Ayurvedic practice and her EFT work.

Conclusion: Your Journey to Holistic Success Awaits

Tina Coleman’s story is more than an inspiring weight loss narrative. It is a compelling case for a new paradigm of health—one that honors the profound connection between the body, mind, and spirit. Her success was built on a powerful triad:

  1. A Deep, Personal Motivation: Rooted in self-love and the desire for a vibrant future.

  2. The Structural Wisdom of Ayurveda: Providing a personalized, sustainable plan for physical health and weight loss.

  3. The Emotional Precision of EFT: Releasing the stored stress, trauma, and limiting beliefs that physically manifest as excess weight.

The journey of weight loss, when guided by Ayurveda and EFT, becomes a journey of self-discovery. It’s about learning your body’s language, listening to your heart’s whispers, and having the tools to respond with compassion and wisdom.

Your path to success may not look exactly like Tina’s, but the principles remain the same. Start by connecting to your core motivation. Explore the wisdom of Ayurveda to understand your unique constitution. Embrace the healing power of EFT to clear the emotional pathways. The combination of Ayurveda and EFT is a proven strategy for achieving not just weight loss, but a life of authentic, unshakeable success and well-being. Your transformation begins the moment you decide that your body, and your life, are worthy of this deep and lasting care.

Podcast Script: Luxury Unplugged

Host: Okay. What if midlife wasn't the beginning of the end, but the moment you finally came alive? My guest today, Tina Kman, embodies that transformation.

After losing an amazing 90 lbs naturally through Ayurveda, yoga, and mindful living, she didn't just reinvent her life—and we're going to go through that story today. It's a journey of resilience and reinvention.

It isn't only about a weight loss journey, as we'll find out in a minute. She's walked through menopause, embraced grief, and started a life abroad. We'll cover all of it in this podcast: powerful breakthroughs about choosing adventure and vitality, and, of course, finding out about the amazing weight loss journey along the way.

So, welcome to Luxury Unplugged podcast, where we explore the art of living inside and out. And today, Tina is reminding us that the weight loss journey is never about pounds on a scale. Welcome, Tina.

Tina: Hi, thank you so much for having me.

Host: So nice to have you, Tina. So, as we explore your weight loss journey—first of all, congratulations on such an amazing achievement. 90 pounds is humongous. How did you go about it, and what was the motivation behind it?

Tina: The motivation was really because I was going to be turning 50 in a few years, and I know it's so important at that midlife point to really step into who you are. I was carrying extra weight on my body; it affected my joints, how I felt, and then also, you lose elasticity in your skin. So that was really the motivation. Weight loss is something I'd struggled with my whole life, so it had always been a challenge until I started yoga teacher training and I found out about Ayurvedic medicine. I literally opened up a book, read about Kapha, and I was like, "Oh my goodness, that could be my picture." That really just transformed my life—making simple changes and then working with an Ayurvedic practitioner.

Host: Lovely. So, when you talk about this weight loss journey, it also embodies an identity shift. What changed on the inside that the scale couldn't measure for you?

Tina: Learning to love myself and really appreciate who I was. Because I'm a Virgo and we tend to be really hard on ourselves and everybody else. I felt like I was just pushing myself until I finally realized who I was, what I wanted in my life, and really appreciating my body no matter what size I am. Like, I am still a beautiful person. And that made a huge, huge difference in my life.

Host: So, do you think that your emotions were sort of in the way of your weight being excess of what you wanted?

Tina: Absolutely. How we feel about ourselves, our lives, our world, it makes a huge difference. Because our bodies are cells; they absorb everything. All of our thoughts, emotions, experiences, they get trapped in our cells. So being able to love yourself and radiate that instead makes a huge difference.

Host: Yeah. So, you also talk about EFT tapping, Ayurveda, and mindful living. Tell us something about that.

Tina: Okay, yes. I actually love EFT, which is Emotional Freedom Tapping Technique, also known as tapping. I was introduced to it years ago and I was like, "Ah, this isn't going to work." And I have actually taken several courses on it, and that helped with my weight loss transformation as well. It also helps with traveling emotions, pain, stress. It helps with everything. I was literally just doing it before our interview.

Host: Beautiful. And isn't that very good to really calm down your nerves, like you just mentioned? It's perhaps very instant, right?

Tina: Yes. And what it does is you're tapping on acupressure points in your body. You're getting out the negative statements first and then going through with positive statements. If you're in public, you can just tap your thumb and index finger together under the table. You can do this while you're traveling. It helps to calm down your nervous system so you can think clearly. Because when our nervous system is going "blah," we can't think or react or respond effectively. So calming that down makes a huge difference.

Host: Right. So, you have mentioned that you've written a book. Congratulations on that. Tell us about your book and why you feel that women should understand that weight loss has nothing to do with diets or quick fixes.

Tina: It's a lifestyle and thought process transformation. My book is to inspire women turning 50 to travel and live their best life because so many people in so many cultures think that, "Oh, 50 is the end. You're washed up. You're over the hill. You don't have any value. You're not sexy." And I'm like, that's not true. I am the perfect embodiment of this. My hair grayed very early, and I fought against it for a while, but I've really learned to embrace it. And when you can embrace more of who you are authentically and love who you are, you can make huge transformations. My book was inspired because I was terrified of turning 50. I was 46, and I'm like, "I feel really good now, it's going to happen in a few years." And so I wanted to turn that fear into empowerment and inspire not only myself but other women. It's not the ending; it's just the beginning.

Host: Well, it is a beautiful thought, and you are somebody who's embodying it. Tell us a nugget of wisdom for our viewers. How can women really embrace their age, and how can they go through the menopausal impact during this time and still strive to be healthy and vibrant?

Tina: Well, age is just a number, and if you don't mind, it doesn't matter. It's your state of mind that matters. I call it "adult puberty" because just like when you were 13, 14 going through puberty, that's what you experience. It affects us all very differently, and a lot of the symptoms women haven't even been aware of. Through diet, exercise, yoga—there's some amazing yoga poses—and also natural remedies, you can move through it on a much, much smoother scale.

Host: Right. So, we've talked about body confidence and "adult puberty." Aging is natural, and we should accept it. Now, I'd like you to take us through a deeper understanding. How does EFT help with weight loss? How do I get my emotions in control?

Tina: Doing EFT consistently helps to lower your cortisol level—your stress hormone—which is one of the reasons why we retain and hold on to weight. When you're able to reset your nervous system, your body is able to let go of the stress and tension. Stress is a major symptom of weight gain. So being able to tap really does help. It helps with weight gain, finances, stress levels, headaches, colds, blues. It's your body's own system to help you rejuvenate.

Host: So, you also talk about reclaiming sensuality even in your 40s and onwards. Tell us about what triggered you to write about it.

Tina: My book does talk about sensuality because it's so important for us. The book is called 50, Fabulous, and Fcking Fantastic*. The reason I call it that is because it's not about sex; it's more about owning your power, stepping into your confidence, feeling really good in your body. As women, we do not get enough touch. Learning how to care for your body and pleasure yourself releases endorphins. It's going to make you feel better. You can lose weight through that as well. It's a wonderful gift. Even just lightly touching your arms, your face, your body... your body does not know the difference. So you will get that feel-good sensation. Learning to love on yourself is so important.

Host: So your book and your coaching are about living gracefully and loving yourself. When you talk about reclaiming joy, play, and freedom after 50, what was the driving factor for you? Can we dip into your story? What drove this massive shift?

Tina: Necessity is the mother of all invention. My career as a massage therapist of 20 years ended because I was in a car accident. I was very angry about this for years. I had a moment where I was like, "You know what, I'm going to move to Mexico." I knew I wanted to live internationally. When I made that decision, everything started falling into place. I spent two and a half months traveling Mexico by myself to find my spot. Ironically, where I first moved to was a clothing-optional beach. I would walk naked on the beach in the morning and evening with my dogs, and it was just such a freeing experience. That accident ended the life that I knew and opened me up to a whole new life where I really had to start taking better care of myself and figuring out what made me happy.

Host: How can women shift their mindset in midlife and see it as an act of possibility? What advice do you have as a last question for women watching?

Tina: You have to let go of the old stories. You have to let go of those old hurts, that old pain. You have to forgive yourself and other people because holding on to everything, you are carrying that weight energetically with you. I saw this in my mother. She held on to the past and unfortunately passed early at 58. I knew that things could change in an instant. We are not guaranteed to live till 90 or have good health. So, realizing what was important and being willing to make those changes. Letting go of the old stories. Instead of saying, "I can't," be curious. "How can I make that happen?" If there is a will, there's a way. Especially if you're a woman. We are resourceful. If you really want something, you can make it happen.

Host: I'm getting a hint of miracles over here. When you were a massage therapist with no stable net income, how did you manage to go to Italy? What was the miracle?

Tina: I believed that I could do it. I found an old journal from my 20s where I'd written I wanted to go to Italy. I was turning 45 and thought, "If I don't do it now, when am I going to do it?" Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith. I started googling flights and realized it was cheaper to fly out of New York into Barcelona. I bootstrapped it. I did couch surfing, hostels, cooked for myself. It was the most life-changing experience. If you don't want it, you'll find an excuse. If you want it, you'll find a way.

Host: Wow. That's beautiful. We are creative sources.

Tina: Yes. We produce life. We can do anything. You have to really lock into who you are and what you want. So many times we're told we can't. People have called me brave for traveling by myself, and I'm like, "I don't feel brave. I just know if I wait on other people, I'm gonna keep waiting." Sometimes you got to take that leap of faith, believe in yourself, bet on yourself.

Host: Beautiful. Thank you so much, Tina, for this burst of positivity, energy, and radiance, and for your beautiful book. Congratulations once again.

And for our viewers, hopefully you have not only enjoyed this episode in terms of the bits of adventure and expression of knowledge and vitality we've shared, I hope you also got to understand that breakdowns can cause powerful breakthroughs.
